Many Indian cricketers have registered achievements in their names in the ICC World Cup 2023 semi-final match. These include middle-order star batsman Shreyas Iyer. Shreyas Iyer played a stormy inning of 105 runs in this match.

He scored 105 runs in only 70 balls in the match. Iyer completed his century in 67 balls. Along with this, he has also registered a World Cup record in his name. This is the fastest century by any batsman in the history of ICC World Cup knockout matches. Iyer hit four fours and eight sixes during his century innings.

He broke the record of former Australian wicketkeeper batsman Adam Gilchrist for scoring the fastest century in a World Cup knockout. Adam Gilchrist scored a century in 72 balls against Sri Lanka in the 2007 World Cup final. The record of scoring the fastest century in the World Cup is held in the name of KL Rahul, which he scored against Netherlands in the last league match of this World Cup.
