If Virat Kohli is successful in scoring three runs in the final, he will leave Ponting behind in terms of scoring the most runs in the ODI World Cup. 

Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting has scored 1743 runs in the history of ODI World Cup. Whereas Virat Kohli has scored 1741 runs. Former great Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar has scored the highest number of 2278 runs in the history of ODI World Cup.
