In response, Dhawan told that he started playing cricket at a very young age. He got a chance to play a match after 1 year in the club. Before this, Dhawan had to do different types of work. He used to bring tea for the coach, help in rolling the pitch. Dhawan told that to get 10 minutes of batting in the evening, he had to do other work and wait for hours in the sun.
India's greatest player Sachin Tendulkar earned a lot of money and fame from cricket. Now he has established a foundation and helps poor children through it. Like him, Dhawan, who retired last year, has now started an NGO. Through this, he helps poor children to progress. He also runs a special scholarship program for girls.
A career of 14 years
Shikhar Dhawan made his debut in international cricket in 2010 in an ODI match against Australia. After this, in 2011, he made his debut in T20 International against West Indies. In 2013, he made his Test debut against Australia. In his Test debut, Dhawan played a brilliant innings of 187 runs. On 24 August last year, he ended his cricket journey after 14 years.
Dhawan played a total of 269 matches for India, in which he scored 10867 runs. He scored 2315 runs in 34 Tests at an average of 40.61, 6793 runs in 167 ODIs at an average of 44.11 and 1759 runs in 68 T20 matches. Dhawan has scored 24 centuries and 55 half-centuries in his international career.
