The ICC World Cup 2023 has successfully ended and Australia has won their sixth ODI World Cup title by defeating India by six wickets in the final. With this remarkable win, Australia became the first non-host nation to lift the World Cup trophy since 2007. The last time Australia did this under Ricky Ponting was in 2007 by defeating Sri Lanka in the final in Barbados.

Whereas Team India, which remained unbeaten in the entire campaign, has now lost its second World Cup final against the Australian team. In 2003, India had to face defeat against Australia in the World Cup final.

Virat Kohli, the tournament's leading run-scorer with 765 runs, gifted his jersey to his IPL teammate and Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell. After the match, both of them met and even hugged each other.

Although Kohli scored his fifth consecutive 50-plus score in the campaign, India still could not reach the 300-run mark and were all out for 240.

In contrast, Australia, chasing the target of 241 runs, saved its best innings for the last. The Pat Cummins-led side lost its first three important wickets of David Warner (7 runs), Mitchell Marsh (15 runs) and Steve Smith (4 runs), followed by Travis Head's brilliant century of 137 runs and Australia Made this innings in his name.

Head also won the 'Player of the Match' award in the final. Interestingly, he also received the prestigious award for scoring 62 and taking 2/21 against South Africa in the semi-final.

After scoring three centuries, including the record-breaking century for most ODI centuries, Kohli was awarded the 'Player of the Tournament' of the ICC World Cup 2023.
