The final match of Euro Cup 2024 was played between Spain and England in Berlin, Germany. In this match, Spain defeated England 2-1. With this, it has become the champion of Euro Cup for the fourth time. Spain has regained this trophy after 12 years. The Spanish team has previously won this trophy in 1964, 2008 and 2012. Spain also made a record by winning Euro Cup 2024. It has become the first country to win this trophy a maximum of 4 times. At the same time, England has faced defeat in the final of Euro Cup for the second consecutive time. The England team lost to Italy in the 2020 final.

These are the heroes of Spain's victory

Spain was not able to perform well in any major tournament for the last decade. It has been 12 years since they won the Euro Cup. In 2012, they were eliminated in the Round-16 itself. In 2020, they had to face defeat in the semi-finals, but this time Spain performed brilliantly. The Spanish team has won this tournament without losing a match. Not only this, they also hold the record of scoring the most goals (14) in an edition. In the final match, Nico Williams and Mikel Oyarzabal were the heroes of victory.

After the first half, both the teams could not score any goal. As soon as the second half started, Williams gave Spain the lead with a brilliant goal. However, England's Cole Palmer equalized in the 73rd minute. 13 minutes later, in the 86th minute, Oyarzabal again scored a goal for Spain, which was the turning point of the game. Nico Williams was given the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance. Spain's midfielder Rodri became the Player of the Tournament. 17-year-old Lamin Yamal, who created a sensation throughout the tournament, was chosen as the Young Player of the Tournament.

England waited for 60 years

The England team started participating in the Euro Cup in 1964, but has not been able to win this title in 60 years. Now its wait has increased even more. In the first year i.e. 1964, it could not even qualify for the tournament. England got the opportunity to host in 1996. At that time it could reach the semi-finals. Then Germany captured the trophy. However, it has played the finals of the last two editions.
