Cricket player’s fees
According to a report published by Business Standard on 28 February 2024, the BCCI has also not disclosed the remuneration of the players while dividing them into four categories. Earlier, cricketers usually got Rs 7 crore in the A plus bracket, Rs 5 crore in A, Rs 3 crore in B and Rs 1 crore in the C category in addition to the match fee.
Fees for one match to cricket players
According to a report by Hindustan Times and Cricket Resolve, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) pays a good amount of money to cricket players as match fees. As per the equal payment policy implemented in 2022, both male and female players are paid the same fees.
- Test matches: Rs 15 lakh if player is in the playing XI and Rs 7.5 lakh for reserve players
- ODI matches: Rs 6 lakh (playing XI) and Rs 3 lakh (reserve)
- T20 matches: Rs 3 lakh (playing XI) and Rs 1.5 lakh (reserve)
The report said that in domestic cricket, players get Rs 40,000-60,000 per day for the Ranji Trophy depending on their experience. Rs 50,000 is paid for the Vijay Hazare Trophy (50 overs) and Rs 17,500 is paid per match for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20).
How much fee does BCCI pay to the head coach?
According to the BCCI's official website and Live Mint report, the fees of the head coach of the Indian cricket team are decided by the BCCI and depend on their qualifications and experience. In 2024, the BCCI has made it clear that the salary of the head coach will be "negotiable" and will be decided according to their experience. Generally, the coach of the Indian team gets a salary of Rs 10 crore to Rs 12 crore annually. This salary is determined under the contract. It does not include the fee for any particular match, but it is added to their annual package. The salary of the Indian cricket coach is one of the highest-paid coaches in the world.
Salary paid to support staff
According to BCCI documents and Cricbuzz report, BCCI pays annual salaries to the supporting staff based on their role and experience. These key coaching and supporting staff include physiotherapists, trainers, analysts and other support staff. The main coaching staff (batting, bowling and fielding coaches) is paid from Rs 3 crore to Rs 4 crore per year.
The report states that physiotherapists and trainers are paid Rs 1.5 crore to Rs 2 crore annually. Video analysts and other technical staff get Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore annually. This salary depends on their contract and the requirements of their role with the team. Staff working internationally gets higher salaries than staff working domestically. Apart from this, travel allowance, accommodation, and other facilities are also provided to the supporting staff.
