Chennai Super Kings is considered to be the most successful team in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni has won the IPL title five times and has made the record of playing the most number of playoffs. They missed the playoffs only twice, in 2020 and 2022. Recently IPL trading news revealed that Hardik Pandya has been traded from Mumbai Indians to Gujarat Titans, where he has also been appointed as the captain. Rohit Sharma will not captain the team this season, leading to speculations that he may join Chennai. However, the CEO of Chennai Super Kings has given an important statement regarding this.

Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan stressed that it is the team's policy not to be involved in player trades. They mentioned that they do not have players they would consider trading to Mumbai and have not approached Mumbai for any trade. Vishwanathan clarified that he had no such intention. After the removal of Rohit Sharma from the captaincy in Mumbai, there was a decline in the fan following of the team. Rumours spread about the possibility of Rohit moving to Chennai, leading to speculations on social media.

A champion in his own right, Rohit Sharma has led Mumbai Indians to victory in the IPL five times. He became the captain in 2013 and led Mumbai to its first title in the same year. Under his leadership, Mumbai won again in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. Pandya, who played under the captaincy of Rohit, was released by Mumbai in the 2022 mega auction. He was later bought by Gujarat Titans, where he captained the team for two seasons, leading them to become champions in 2022 and reach the final the following year. After this stint with Gujarat, Pandya has now returned to Mumbai.
