The Champions Trophy 2025 could be the last ICC tournament for many star players. Earlier there were reports that this would also be the last ICC tournament for Afghanistan's veteran player Mohammad Nabi. However, now he has broken his silence on the matter of retirement. Talking to the ICC, Mohammad Nabi has made it clear that he will not retire after the Champions Trophy and will continue to play. He also expressed his desire that he wants to play international cricket with his son.

Mohammad Nabi refused to retire

Mohammad Nabi had said in November 2024 that he would retire after the Champions Trophy but now Nabi has changed his mind. Talking to ICC, he said, 'Maybe this will not be my last ODI (Champions Trophy). I will probably play fewer ODIs and create opportunities for young players. So that they can get experience. This (retirement) will depend on my fitness'.

Nabi wants to play international cricket with his son

40-year-old Nabi has expressed a big wish. His dream is to play international cricket with his son Hassan Eisakhil. Nabi said, 'I hope and this is my dream that we will be able to achieve it. He (Hassan) is playing very well. He is working hard for this and I also keep motivating him. He follows my advice and tries to move forward'. Nabi also said for his son that if he wants to become a good player, then he will have to continue working hard and achieve his goal himself.

Nabi's international career

40-year-old Mohammad Nabi has played only three Tests for Afghanistan but he is a big player for Afghanistan in T20I and ODI. Nabi is seen in the role of an all-rounder.
