24-year-old Indian batsman Abhishek Sharma won the match for Punjab within 10 overs with his fiery century against Meghalaya in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. He smashed the bowlers and scored a century in just 28 balls.

Equalled the fastest century

Abhishek Sharma scored a century in 28 balls for Punjab in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and equalled the record for the fastest T20 century by an Indian. Gujarat opener Urvil Patel scored a century in 28 balls against Tripura last week. Both these batsmen are only behind Sahil Chauhan in terms of scoring the fastest century in T20, who completed a century in 27 balls while batting for Estonia.

Abhishek broke the great record of Suryakumar Yadav as soon as he hit the 10th six in his innings. Abhishek Sharma has become the Indian batsman to hit the most T20 sixes in a calendar year. Before him, this record was in the name of Suryakumar, who had hit 85 sixes in 2022. Abhishek Sharma has hit 87 sixes so far in the current year.
