Today Kapil Dev is celebrating his 65th birthday. Kapil Dev's contribution to Indian cricket is unparalleled, especially as the captain who led India to its first World Cup win in 1983.

He was born in January 1959 in Chandigarh, Punjab, India. He was the captain of the Indian cricket team that won the Cricket World Cup for the first time in 1983.

Kapil was named the Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002 and is considered one of the most prominent players of all time. He coached the Indian national cricket team from 1999–2000.

After retiring from cricket, he also decided to serve with the Indian team as a coach. As of 2012, he has been associated with ICL, and most of his income is derived from cricket and brand promotions.

'Haryana Hurricane' also has a stake in Dev Mosco Lighting Pvt Ltd which installs flood lights in stadiums across India. PCA Stadium in Mohali, Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and Barabati Stadium in Cuttack are some of the stadiums that have benefited from his investment. Kapil Dev invested around $3 million in ITL (Indian Trading League) run by Samco Ventures, where he holds a majority stake.
