Before the IPL 2025 season, the most discussed topic is whether Rohit Sharma will remain a part of the 5-time champion Mumbai Indians or not, but it seems certain that former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who has been a part of it for a long time, may leave the franchise.

There have been various activities for the last several days regarding the IPL mega auction to be held at the end of this year. Everyone is eager to know how many players the franchise teams will be allowed to retain. Only after this will it be clear whether legendary players like MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma will remain with their respective teams in the next season or not. In this too, the chances of Rohit Sharma leaving Mumbai Indians remain very strong. Whether this will happen or not, it will be clear in a few months, but before him, former legendary fast bowler of Team India, Zaheer Khan, seems to be leaving Mumbai Indians.

Zaheer has been in Mumbai for a long time

A report has claimed that before the next season, Zaheer Khan is moving towards ending his journey with 5-time champion Mumbai Indians. Zaheer has been a part of the Mumbai Indians team management for a long time, where he became the Director of Cricket after being the bowling coach. Then in 2022, Mumbai Indians made him the Global Head of Players Development. Through this, he was working on the development of players in the teams of the MI franchise present in other T20 leagues. Now after being in this role for two years, Zaheer seems to be separating from it and his strings are being connected with the old franchise of current Team India coach Gautam Gambhir.

Now will there be a connection with this team?

Cricbuzz 's report claims that Zaheer Khan can now join Lucknow Super Giants, one of the new IPL franchises. Talks are going on between Zaheer and the franchise regarding the role of mentor. The Lucknow franchise, which is part of the IPL from 2022, is currently without a mentor. Earlier, Gautam Gambhir was its mentor for 2 consecutive seasons, but before the last season, he moved to Kolkata Knight Riders. The report states that Zaheer will not only be a mentor, but will also be in the role of the team's bowling coach. Incidentally, Morne Morkel, who was the bowling coach of Lucknow, is now going to be a part of Team India's coaching staff along with Gambhir.

Lucknow had made a big change in its coaching setup last season. Apart from Gambhir, then head coach Andy Flower also left, after which Justin Langer took over the command of the team and Adam Voges and Lance Klusener also came with him, while Jonty Rhodes was already a part of the team. All of them will be part of the team in the next season, now the wait is whether Zaheer becomes a part of the team or not.
