The selection committee of BCCI has announced the Indian team for the ICC World Cup. KL Rahul has been included in this squad and Sanju Samson and Yuzvendra Chahal have been excluded. Like the Asia Cup, much attention has been paid to the depth of batting in the World Cup too.

In the press conference after the team selection, captain Rohit Sharma said that I know what it is like to be out of the World Cup. So I know how those who are not a part of it must be feeling. In this Indian squad, two pace all-rounders in the form of Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur and two spin all-rounders in the form of Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja have been included. Rohit Sharma further said that three things will be considered for giving place to any player in the playing eleven, form, opposition team, and combination.

According to ICC rules, any country can make the final changes in its squad for the World Cup till September 28. On September 5, each team will have to submit the name of the 15-member squad to the ICC. It is noteworthy that World Cup 2023 will be organized in India from October 5 to November 19.

The Indian team will start its campaign in the World Cup on October 8 against Australia. Which will be played at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai. Each team has to play 9-9 matches in the World Cup league round. Apart from this, the match between India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on 14 October.
