The results have not been in the Indian team's favor in the recent past. Team India has struggled in ODIs and Tests since winning the T20 World Cup last year. This has increased the pressure not only on captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Gautam Gambhir but also on the BCCI. Therefore, it is thinking of making many big changes. For this, it also held a review meeting in Mumbai. During this, a lot of brainstorming was done to improve the team's performance. According to media reports, after a lot of deliberation, a proposal has been put forward to bring back Virat Kohli's strict fitness policy, which Gambhir had opposed before becoming the coach.

Will Yo-Yo test return?

Virat Kohli is known for his fitness in cricket. He implemented the same thing on Team India during his captaincy. He wanted every player to be fit, so that his overall performance improves. That is why he implemented the Yo-Yo test. It was necessary for every player to pass it to get a place in the team. The Times of India report has claimed, citing sources, that now the BCCI is thinking of implementing this policy again.

According to the report, most of the players had become serious about their fitness. Therefore, BCCI had relaxed it and shifted all the focus to their injury problem. But some players have taken advantage of this and started being careless. This is the reason why the board has again been forced to bring strict rules for fitness. A fitness standard for players may be implemented soon.

Have you made the protest serious?

Before becoming the head coach of Team India, Gautam Gambhir had opposed Kohli's Yo Yo test. During an interview, he had said that players are selected based on their talent and skills. It is unfair to select players based only on the result of the Yo Yo test. This method is not right. The job of the trainer is to work on the fitness of the players and keep them physically better. Now it remains to be seen whether the head coach of the team, who has already opposed this rule, will allow it to be implemented again or not.

What is Yo Yo test?

Apart from cricket, Yo-Yo test is used in many other sports. Through this physical fitness test, the physical aerobic and recovery capacity of the players is estimated. In this, the players have to run on a specially designed track. As the level of the test progresses, its difficulties are also increased.
