Australia's star opener out of the Champions Trophy before the semi-final against India, this player will take place in the team

Australia's team is in the semi-finals of the Champions Trophy. But after reaching there, it has suffered a big setback. The team's star opener Matthew Short has had to be out of the tournament. The reason for Short's exclusion is an injury he suffered. Australia has replaced Matthew Short, who plays the role of an all-rounder in the team, with young Cooper Connolly. Cooper, who wants to become like Shaun Marsh, is also a batsman and is also adept at turning the ball like Short.
Matthew Short ruled out due to injury
Matthew Short was injured while fielding in the match against Afghanistan, due to which he had to be ruled out of the Champions Trophy. Captain Steve Smith told Prime Video that Short was not able to move properly. We thought that he would recover in the break in between the match. But that did not happen.
Matthew Short played an important role in Australia's victory against England. In that match, he scored 63 runs in 66 balls. Apart from that, Short scored 20 runs in 15 balls in the match against Afghanistan. In this way, he scored 83 runs in 2 matches of the tournament.
Short was replaced by Cooper Connolly
The ICC's technical committee has approved the entry of 21-year-old Cooper Connolly in the Australian team. Cooper was part of the team's traveling reserve. Cooper Connolly made his ODI debut against England last year. He has played only 3 ODIs so far, in which he has not contributed much apart from scoring 10 runs.
Cooper can play in the semi-finals
Cooper Connolly will join the team on Monday, before the semi-final match. There are also speculations about him playing as an opener in the semi-final. Although the team already has an opener like Jack Fraser, the main reason for Cooper's playing will be his left arm spin, which, like Short, will give the team a bowling option.
