Australian legend got angry at ICC, called it an 'event management company', and also mentioned India.

Former Australian great Ian Chappell has called the International Cricket Council (ICC) an event management company. He believes that the ICC does not run cricket but is like an event management company. Ian Chappell also mentioned India during this time. Apart from this, he also expressed concern about Test cricket. Chappell stressed that the ICC should have implemented the two-tier Test system by now. Apart from this, he also raised questions about giving Test status to countries like Ireland and Afghanistan.
Chappell got angry at ICC.
Chappell is considered one of the best captains in Australian cricket history. 81-year-old Chappell wrote in his column in 'ESPNcricinfo', 'On the issue of the two-tier Test system, former West Indies fast bowler Michael Holding has said - Despite all its faults, at least FIFA runs the football. ICC should also run cricket. This is a complex problem, ICC does not run cricket and until this changes, financially strong countries will have no problem in preparing the program according to their wishes.'
India's position is strong in the ICC
Referring to India, Chappell has described India's position in the ICC as very strong. He said, 'India's strong presence in the ICC is in proportion to its contribution to cricket's income of about 70%. This is a complex issue for which cricket has not found any practical solution'.
Questions raised on granting test status to Afghanistan-Ireland
Chappell also targeted countries like Ireland and Afghanistan for being given Test status. Both these countries have started playing Tests from the year 2018. Earlier, both countries used to play only ODIs and T20s. Chappell said about that both the countries should not organize Tests. According to him, these countries do not have adequate facilities. They neither have a good first-class tournament nor are these countries financially strong for this.
He further wrote, 'For example, can Afghanistan host a Test series in their troubled country? Does Ireland really have the required number of grounds? The answer to these questions is - absolutely not. Then why do they have Test status? Because in exchange for Test status, they vote on important issues in the ICC. The ICC is widely regarded as an event management company. But they are not very good at managing events either.'
Chappell's international career
Chappell started his Test career in 1964. Chappell scored 5345 runs in 75 Tests. During this period, 14 centuries came from his bat. Ian, who started his ODI career in 1971, scored 673 runs in 16 ODIs with the help of 8 half centuries.
