Argentina's great footballer Lionel Messi received this award for a record eighth time, defeating these greats

Lionel Messi, captain of Argentina's world-winning team, has increased his list of awards. The Ballon d'Or award has once again been included in this list. Argentina's great footballer Lionel Messi won the Ballon d'Or award for a record 8th time on Monday night.

In the race to win this award for the year 2023, 36-year-old Messi has defeated Manchester City forward Erling Haaland and his former Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) teammate Kylian Mbappe. 

Argentina's football legend has won this award for a record eighth time. Earlier he had won in the years 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015, 2019 and 2021. Barcelona's Aitana Bonamati was awarded the Ballon d'Or in the women's category.

Lionel Messi has made many big achievements in football. Today he is counted among the great football players.
