Afghanistan has registered its name in history by winning against Pakistan by eight wickets yesterday. This was not only Pakistan's third consecutive defeat but also its biggest upset in the World Cup.
Fans are already showing their displeasure on social media over Pakistan's first defeat against Afghanistan at the Chepauk Stadium.
Apart from the fans, former Pakistani cricketers have also made some harsh comments regarding the performance of the players in this marquee tournament.
Former Pakistan bowler Wasim Akram has fiercely targeted the Pakistani players and said, "We have been shouting on the show for 3 weeks that their fitness test was not done in the last 2 years. Now let me take different names of boys. They have so many faces. It seems that they eat 8 kg each. Nihari eats. There should be some test for these also. These people are playing professionally, and you are getting paid for that. You are representing your country. Fielding depends on your fitness, and we are lacking there."
Akram also points out a big connection between fielding and fitness. “Fielding is all about fitness and that is what we lack,” says the former Pakistani bowler.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan recorded their second upset win of the tournament by defeating defending champions England on October 15. This win has given hope to Afghanistan in the ongoing World Cup campaign. They have won two from the five matches played so far and still have a chance to qualify for the semi-finals.
On the other hand, Pakistan has also won two in the same number of matches played, but it still has a chance to reach the semi-finals.
It is now important for the Babar Azam-led side to win all the remaining four matches to stand a good chance of qualifying for the knockouts.
