South African veteran cricketer AB de Villiers played his last international match in April 2018. He played his last professional match in IPL in 2021 for Royal Challengers Bangalore. After this, he said goodbye to cricket. But before the Champions Trophy to be held on February 19, de Villiers has made a big announcement. This veteran player, popularly known as Mr. 360, has surprised all the fans by talking about returning to the cricket field. He revealed this in a recent interview.

AB de Villiers recently hinted at his comeback on the Running Between the Wickets podcast. During this, he expressed his desire to play cricket again. However, he did not confirm when he would return to the field. De Villiers said, "I can play cricket soon. However, nothing is confirmed yet." During this, he also made it clear that now he does not want to play international or any professional cricket. That is, he will not play for South Africa or in the IPL. He said, "I am not talking about RCB or the South Africa tour or any serious game. I want to play at a place where I can enjoy."

Why did de Villiers make this decision?

The biggest reason behind de Villiers playing cricket again is his children. He said that he is thinking like this due to pressure from his children. De Villiers revealed that he will soon go to the nets and practice and see if he is fit to play or not. According to him, he has blurred vision in one eye but the other eye is absolutely fine. If he is able to play well in front of the bowling machine, then he will decide about the future. He wants his children and the whole family to see him playing and enjoy this game.

De Villiers played 114 Test matches in his international career, in which he scored 8765 runs at an average of 50.66. During this, he scored 22 centuries and 46 half-centuries. In 228 ODI matches, he managed to score 9577 runs at an average of 53.50, which includes 25 centuries and 53 half-centuries. Apart from this, he also played 78 T20 Internationals, in which he scored 1672 runs at an average of 26.12 and a strike rate of 135. Talking about IPL, De Villiers scored 5162 runs in 184 matches of this tournament at an average of 39.71 and a strike rate of 151. During this, he scored 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries. De Villiers played for the Delhi team in the first 3 seasons of IPL, after which he went to Royal Challengers Bangalore and remained associated with it till the end.
