Lakshya Sen for Arjuna Award and table tennis star Sharath Kamal for Khel Ratna

The selection committee has sent the names of table tennis star Achanta Sharath Kamal for Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award and Badminton star players Lakshya Sen and Nikhat Zareen (boxing) for Arjuna Award, besides Anshu Malik from the sport of wrestling. Arjuna Award has been included in the list.

Only Sharath Kamal's name has been sent for Khel Ratna Award. 40-year-old Sharath Kamal won three gold and one silver medal in the 2022 Commonwealth Games. He has also won a medal in Asian Games twice. Sharath Kamal will be the second table tennis player after Manika Batra to receive the Khel Ratna.

 

A total of 25 names including Lakshya Sen, Nikhat Zareen, chess players R Pragyanand, Anshu Malik, and Sarita Mor have been recommended for Arjuna Award. No cricketer's name has been recommended for the Arjuna Award this year.
