India defeated West Indies by 68 runs in the first match of the five-match T20 series played at Brian Lara Stadium on the back of captain Rohit Sharma (64 runs) and Dinesh Karthik (41 not out).
Batting first, India scored 190 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs. In reply, the West Indies team could score only 122 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. With this, India took a 1-0 lead in the T20I series. Rohit Sharma scored 64 runs in 44 balls in the match. He hit seven fours and two sixes.
While Dinesh Karthik played a stormy inning of 41 not out off 19 balls with the help of 2 sixes and 4 fours. He was awarded man of the match for this innings. Rohit Sharma completed his fifty as captain of India.
He led Team India to victory in 42 out of 50 matches under his captaincy. Whereas in eight matches, Team India has to face defeat. Team India won all ten matches against West Indies under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.
