Indian opener Shubman Gill today registered a big record in his name in the first ODI of the three-match series against New Zealand being played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

He played a century in this match. He is still present at the crease after scoring 111 runs. During this inning, he completed his one thousand runs in ODI cricket. He has become one of the fastest Indian cricket to achieve this feat. Shubman Gill completed one thousand runs in 19 innings of 19 matches. He has scored 1005 runs in ODIs so far.

He has broken the record of former Indian captain Virat Kohli and opener Shikhar Dhawan in this matter. Both these batsmen achieved this feat in 24-24 innings. In this case, the world record is recorded in the name of Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman. He had registered this achievement in his name only in 18 innings.
