Dinesh Karthik breaks silence on ODI World Cup 2023 plan, says- 'I have been informed...'

From commenting on Team India's matches in 2021 to making a spectacular comeback in 2022, Dinesh Karthik's fortunes have taken a surprising turn. Backed by a sensational IPL 2022 performance, DK was handed a return to the national team, and it would be fair to say that he took the opportunity with gusto.

After playing the match finisher for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in IPL 2022, Karthik was included in the Indian squad for the five-match T20I series against South Africa. The veteran wicketkeeper-batsman did well and was later selected for the tour of Ireland and England.

Despite some mixed performances throughout the UK tour, former cricketers have backed the 37-year-old to get a ticket for India's T20I squad, for the ICC T20I World Cup in Australia. On several occasions, Karthik himself has spoken about how desperate he was to represent India in the World Cup.

While DK may still get a chance to witness the T20I spectacle in a few months' time, the Tamil Nadu batsman was recently questioned about his plans for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, which will be hosted by India.

Notably, the veteran is yet to play for the Men in Blue in ODIs, and during a recent visit to former India pacer Pankaj Singh's cricket academy at SMS Stadium Jaipur, Karthik was questioned if he Planning to stay for the ODI World Cup.

However, he replied that he is not allowed to comment on Indian cricket until he reaches West Indies for a T20I assignment.

Karthik replied, "I have been informed not to comment on Indian cricket until I reach West Indies. Sorry."

He has been selected in India's squad for the upcoming T20I series against West Indies, but before that, both countries will take part in a three-match ODI series starting July 22.
