Commonwealth Games 2022: India's victory account opened in table tennis
India has got off to a good start in the Commonwealth Games 2022 which started in Birmingham today. Indian table tennis players have opened a winning account in the Commonwealth Games.
India has taken a 2-0 lead against South Africa in the qualification round of Women's Group-2 of Table Tennis. In women's singles, Manika Batra defeated Mushfiq Kalam 11-5, 11-3, and 11-2 in straight sets to give India a 2-0 lead.
Earlier, the Indian pair of Srija Akula and Reet Tennyson had defeated Laila Edward and Danish Patel in a doubles match. The Indian pair won this match by 11-7, 11-7, 11-5.
However, India's Tania Chaudhary has to face defeat in the lawn ball. Scotland's De Hong defeated Tania 21-10. Significantly, 16 gold medals are at stake on the first day of the Commonwealth Games 2022.
