India's star-all-rounder Hardik Pandya is all set to take up the new role of captaining Mumbai Indians (MI) in the upcoming IPL 2024. With Pandya's new responsibility as a captain, he has also ended Rohit Sharma's ten-year tenure. As an MI captain, he led the team to register five IPL wins (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020).

Last month, Pandya was initially retained by Gujarat Titans ahead of the IPL auction 2024 and was traded to Mumbai Indians. The 30-year-old's return to MI, with whom he won four IPL trophies (2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020), was a big celebration in itself for the fans. But the netizens are not liking the return of Team India captain Rohit Sharma as captain.

After Mumbai Indians announced Pandya as captain on their official Instagram account, netizens on Twitter wrote 'Shame on MI' and Reacted to this news.

Meanwhile, the IPL Auction 2024 will take place on 19th December 2023 at the grand venue, Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai. Ten franchises will participate in the auction. This auction is expected to see franchises engage in a bidding war, which may lead to them having to empty their pockets to rope in talented players.

Since the auction is taking place a month after the World Cup 2023 ends, franchises will probably be keen to buy the star performers of the tournament. Some record-breaking bids are expected for players like Travis Head, Rachin Ravindra, Shardul Thakur, Mitchell Starc etc.
