Who Can Donate Blood: It is often said in our society that "blood donation is life donation." But many people do not want to donate blood or are afraid of doing so, or they do not know whether they are eligible to do this noble work or not. We spoke to Dr. Imran Ahmed regarding this. He told us in detail who could donate blood. There are some special criteria for this for which you should be eligible.

Criteria for donating blood

1. If you have not donated blood within 3 months, you can donate blood.

2. Donate blood only if you are not feeling sick.

3. You must have slept well last night.

4. You have a cold, cough and flu.

5. You have eaten something in the last 4 hours.

6. If a doctor has ever forbidden you from donating a particular type of blood, then discuss the reason with the doctor before donating blood again.

7. After donating blood, you should not do any heavy work, like climbing stairs, lifting heavy things, driving a heavy vehicle, etc.

8. You do not have hepatitis, malaria, HIV, AIDS, or a sexually transmitted disease.

9. You have never taken antibiotics within 14 days.

10. You have not consumed alcohol within 24 hours.

11. You don't get migraines regularly.

12. You have not taken aspirin, analgesic, steroid, or any medicine within 72 hours which is not recommended before blood donation.

13. You have not taken diphtheria, tetanus, rabies prophylaxis, plague, plague, HPV, meningococcal, pneumococcal, whooping cough, polio injection, hepatitis B, typhoid, cholera vaccine in 2 weeks.

14. You should not have chickenpox viruses, mumps, diarrhea, or urinary tract infection within 2 weeks.

15. You have not taken any of these vaccine serums within 4 weeks, such as polio, measles, mumps, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, influenza, typhoid, cholera, hepatitis A, anti-tetanus serum, anti-venom serum, anti-diphtheria, anti gangrene serum.

16. You have not had Zika virus, or West Nile infection in the past 4 months, or traveled to an area where these diseases are prevalent.

17. You should not have had any of the following problems in the last 6 months- unexplained weight loss, persistent low-grade fever, frequent diarrhea, swollen glands, dengue, chikungunya, minor surgery, persistent cough, tooth extraction, peripheral stem cell donation, acute kidney infection, malaria.

18. You should not have faced any of the following in the last year- tattooing, accidental needle prick, ear piercing, blood transfusion, major surgery, jail term, typhoid, GI endoscopy, immunoglobulin, bone and skin grafting, hepatitis A, hepatitis E, rabies vaccine, organ donation, dog or animal bite.

19. You should not have suffered from osteomyelitis and TB in the last 2 years.

20. You should not have suffered from certain diseases in your lifetime like heart disease, lung disease, kidney disease, cancer, epilepsy, diabetes (sugar patients with HbA1c level below normal can donate blood), abnormal bleeding tendency, mental disease, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, itching, leprosy, sexually transmitted disease, dizziness, asthma, hormone disorder, polycythemia, autoimmune disease, organ and bone marrow transplant and hemoglobin patties, red cell enzyme deficiency.

21. You should not be suffering from Covid-19 or have not come in contact with a Corona patient in the last month.

22. You have taken the Covid-19 vaccine.

23. You have not traveled outside the country in the last 28 days.

24. You do not take drugs and you do not have more than one sexual partner.

26. Your hemoglobin level should not be less than 12.

27. Your weight should not be less than 48 kg.

28.  Your blood pressure should be normal.

29. If you are a woman, you should not be pregnant, you should not have had a miscarriage within 6 months, you should not be menstruating, you should not be breastfeeding.
