In recent times, girls start menstruating at the age of 10 to 11 years. In this article, we will know why puberty is happening before time and what the reasons behind it are.

In recent years, it has been observed that some girls are experiencing puberty very early. While earlier puberty i.e. periods started at an average age of 12-13 years, now many girls are experiencing it at 9 or 10 years. Everyone wants to know why this change is happening. We spoke to a health expert about this. Dr. Chetna Jain, Director Dept of Obstetrics & gynaecology, Cloudnine Group of Hospitals, Sector 14, Gurgaon, is giving detailed information about this.

According to experts, the modern diet is high in processed foods, unhealthy fats and sugars, which is leading to obesity in children. Fat tissue plays an important role in hormone production, especially estrogen, which is responsible for the onset of puberty. Girls who are overweight are more likely to start puberty early.

Experts also blame environmental and chemical influences such as bisphenol A BPA, phthalates and pesticides, which can interfere with hormone function, increasing the likelihood of early puberty.

Emotional and psychological stress can also influence the onset of puberty. Girls who experience high levels of stress, family conflict, or the absence of a father may have an early onset of puberty.

In today's digital age, kids are glued to their phones all the time. Life is becoming sedentary due to less physical activity than before, which can contribute to weight gain and hormonal imbalances. Excessive screen time can interfere with melatonin production, which helps regulate puberty.
