The Central Government is currently running several schemes for the benefit of citizens targeting various demographics such as senior citizens, children and women. Along with these, the government is also helping individuals set up their own businesses through various initiatives. One such program is the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, where eligible individuals get financial assistance from the government to start their own businesses. What is PM Vishwakarma Yojana?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the PM Vishwakarma Yojana in 2023. This scheme allows skilled workers to start their own businesses, the government provides loans up to Rs 3 lakh without any guarantee. The scheme not only provides financial assistance but also includes training to provide necessary skills related to business.

Applicants for this scheme must be skilled in any one of the 18 trades specified in the programme. The loan is disbursed in two phases: an amount of Rs 1 lakh is provided in the first phase, followed by an additional Rs 2 lakh to expand the business. The interest rate on this loan is 5%. Additionally, beneficiaries receive training throughout the week and earn a stipend of ₹500 per day during the training period.

Who can benefit from the scheme?

The scheme is specially designed for skilled workers washermen, cobblers, carpenters, blacksmiths, locksmiths, potters, sculptors, fishermen, stone cutters, tool kit makers, broom makers and other professions. Only Indian citizens aged between 18 to 50 years can avail of the benefits. Additionally, applicants must have a valid certificate from a recognized institution related to the trade and must belong to one of the 140 listed castes.

How to apply for the scheme?

To apply for PM Vishwakarma Yojana, visit the official website www.pmvishwakarma.gov.in. Click on the “How to Register” option, and a page will open where you need to enter your mobile number and Aadhar card number. Click on the verification option, and your registration form will appear. Enter all the required information in the form, upload the required documents and finally click on the submit button to complete the application process.
