These sons were given the right to cremate their father 

According to the scriptures, twelve types of sons have been mentioned. Some of these are as follows- a natural son, adopted son, brother's son, daughter's son, son's son, purchased son, artificial son, donated soul etc. If a deceased does not have a son of his own, then any of these 12 types of sons can light the funeral pyre of the deceased. If the daughter of a deceased gives the funeral pyre, then it is considered inappropriate according to the scriptures.

A daughter cannot light her father's funeral pyre and cannot go to the cremation ground 

No girl or woman is even allowed to come to the crematorium. Hence, no girl or woman can light the funeral pyre of the deceased. This is mentioned in the scriptures. Whether the deceased is a mother or a father, only the son performs the last rites. In this regard, it is mentioned in our scriptures that a son saves from the hell called Pu, that is, after being lit the funeral pyre by the son, the deceased attains heaven. Based on this belief, having a son is said to be the result of the good deeds of many births. A son is a part of the parents. This is why it is the duty of the son to light the funeral pyre of his parents after their death. This is also called a debt for the son.
