Doctors are considered to be the form of God, but sometimes their negligence and misdiagnosis of the disease took away the happiness of the family, which could have avoided the right treatment in time. One such recent case has come from Derbyshire, England, where a 36-year-old man had to pay the price with his life for a small negligence of the doctor. The doctor ignored the signs of cancer as a minor symptom of anxiety. Due to this, the young man did not get the right treatment and died.
Liam Handley, 36, from Derbyshire, had never smoked in his life or had a history of any serious illness. However, the doctors misdiagnosed him as a patient of anxiety and gave him the wrong treatment. This negligence took his life. Liam complained of chest pain, heartbeat irregularities and tension in the initial days.
According to Liam's mother Lin, "Doctors never thought it could be lung cancer. He was young, healthy and never smoked. It was their negligence. Liam repeatedly contacted doctors, but he was never advised to have a chest X-ray. The pain gradually worsened and one day he was rushed to emergency services because the family thought he was having a heart attack.
An emergency test revealed that Liam had blood clots in his lungs. However, doctors did not show any signs of cancer. His condition deteriorated and he started having pain in the shoulders and lower back. But doctors failed to understand the root of the problem. Eventually, Liam decided to have a private CT scan, which revealed that he had lung cancer called adenocarcinoma. The cancer had spread to his liver, spine and lymph nodes.
The investigation revealed that Liam had a rare type of lung cancer called adenocarcinoma EGFR exon 19 positive. It usually affects people who have nothing to do with smoking. Despite treatment, Liam's condition worsened and he died in 2021.
According to experts, 70% of lung cancer cases are found in non-smokers. Unfortunately, this cancer is not detected until it reaches a critical stage. Pay
