According to Hopkins Medicine, broken heart syndrome is also known as cardiomyopathy or takotsubo syndrome. The disease was first identified in Japan in 1990. This happens when a person suddenly becomes very stressed. This causes the heart muscles to weaken.

Broken heart syndrome can be caused mainly due to two reasons – first emotional which includes sadness, fear, anger, shock, and second physical which includes high fever, stroke, breathlessness, bleeding, low blood sugar. However, in 30 percent of people suffering from this disease, it is not diagnosed at the first stage. Because none of those things appear to be causal.

Symptoms of Broken Heart Syndrome

Chest pain

in breathing, unusual sweating

Note- These symptoms can appear in the body within a few minutes or hours of increasing stress.

How dangerous can this syndrome be?

There is also a risk of death from broken heart syndrome. Because the heart muscles begin to weaken in it. In such a situation, due to lack of immediate medical help, the risk of congestive heart failure, low blood pressure, shock increases.

What is the difference between Heart Attack and Broken Heart Syndrome?

Most heart attacks are caused by blockages and blood clots in the coronary arteries, which supply blood to the heart. While the heart cells of people suffering from broken heart syndrome are jammed with adrenaline and other stress hormones.

Treatment of Broken Heart Syndrome

There is no cure for this disease. People suffering from this are treated in the same way as a heart attack. Many people with broken heart syndrome make a full recovery in a month or two. But sometimes broken heart syndrome recurs after treatment
