Weight Loss: Now you can lose weight even while watching TV
You must have often heard that running, exercising, and playing sports are very important to reduce obesity. But do you know that you can burn calories even while watching sports on TV? Yes, this has come to light in a new research.
Scientists at Britain's Loughborough University have found that when we watch a game on TV, our emotions fluctuate. As soon as our team scores a goal or wins, we jump in joy, clap, or shout. All these activities help us burn calories.
Researchers have also put this into a formula which they have named 'The Power of Celebration'. In this formula, they have included things that play a role in burning calories, such as the weight of the spectator, the way of watching the game, the way of celebrating, and the time.
How are calories burned?
When we watch a game, hormones like adrenaline and dopamine are released in our bodies. These hormones excite us and increase our heart rate. As a result, our muscles become active and we burn calories. This research tells us that watching sports is not just entertainment, but it can also be beneficial for our health. However, it is important to note that we cannot completely replace exercise by watching TV. Regular exercise is very important for our health.
Which games have how much impact while watching TV?
Football: 540 calories are burnt in a 90-minute match if you react by jumping or shouting.
Archery: 106 calories can be reduced if you react by clapping during a one-hour match.
Athletics: 162 calories are burnt in a one-hour match if you jump and react at a fast speed.
Tennis: 432 calories are burnt if you watch a match for three hours and react enthusiastically.
