'We shouldn't eat ultra-processed waste': Doctor warns of 10-minute food delivery app
Instant Food Delivery: If the food delivery app is serving you food only 10 minutes after ordering, then think about how it would have been prepared, and whether that method is also good for your health, or not.
10 Minute Food Delivery Health Risk: The development of technology has had an impact on our eating habits, which can be clearly seen in today's era. Today, many food delivery companies are claiming to deliver 10 minutes of food to our homes. But have you ever wondered whether this ultra-fast service is good for our health or not? Health experts are expressing concern about this, also giving reasons for this concern.
India's famous orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Manan Vora wrote on LinkedIn, "I am a doctor, and I think the new trend of food delivery in 10 minutes is going to be a devastating step for our health. Some companies are now competing in quick commerce food delivery.
"How's the food reaching in 10 minutes?"
Dr. Manan further wrote, "They say that this is for our convenience. But we have to stop and ask an important question. How does this food reach me in 10 minutes? To deliver food in 10 minutes, it has to be cooked in 3 minutes or less. And they can only achieve this with ultra-processed, ready-to-eat meals."
"They go from pre-cooked to frozen form, then microwaved and finally delivered to our plates. I've talked before about the dangers of ordering from a food delivery app, but this Quick Com food is the most dangerous.
Dangers of Ultra Processed Food
Studies on similar ultra-processed food have revealed many results such as: –
1. They increase the risk of cancer by 12 percent and the risk of cardiovascular disease by 10 percent.
2. They are associated with the rising obesity rate, which is 27.8 percent of Indian adults
3. Such foods cause a sugar spike, and increase the risk of diabetes.
4. They contain a lot of trans fat, which contributes to heart disease
"These companies want to take advantage of our need for convenience, but this 20-minute difference is not really worth it. If you don't have home-cooked food and have to order, do so, but wait a little longer for fresh food. Do not compromise on your health. Dear companies, we don't want ultra-processed waste to be delivered in 10 minutes."
