Ingredients of Urad Bajra Khichdi
Millet – 250 grams
Arhar Dal – 50 grams
Ghee – 20 grams
Cumin – 2 grams
Tomato – 50 grams
Urad Dal – 50 grams
Rice – 50 grams
Onion – 50 grams
Green chili – 5 grams as required
Step - 1 Remove the husk of the millet
- Sprinkle some water on the millet and keep it aside for an hour. To remove the husk, crush the millet a little bit using a mortar and pestle. Then take out the millet on a plate. Mash it lightly.
Step – 2 Prepare the mixture of millet and cook it in a pressure cooker
- Wash urad dal, tur dal, and rice and keep them aside. Now put all the things including millet in a pressure cooker with 4 cups of water and salt and cook on a medium flame for 5 whistles. If needed, cook it more on low flame and mash it lightly.
Step – 3 Fry the onion and tomato and add the mixture to the millet
- In a separate pan, add ghee and add cumin seeds. Let it crackle. Then add chopped onion, cook till it turns brown, then add chopped tomatoes and cook. Add it to the cooked millet mixture. If required add more hot water for consistency and then boil for 10 minutes.
Step – 4 Serve Urad Bajra Khichdi with Ghee
- Pour ghee on top and serve hot. Serve bajra khichdi with ghee or buttermilk.
