Yes, according to a study conducted on more than 19 lakh adults from 20 countries around the world including South-East Asia, consumption of red meat increases the risk of type-2 diabetes. Here we are telling you what other important information is there in this report- 

Rat meat increases the risk of diabetes

The analysis, published in The Lancet Diabetes & Endocrinology journal, found that consuming 50 grams of processed meat, 100 grams of unprocessed red meat, and 100 grams of poultry meat daily increased the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 15 percent, 10 percent, and 8 percent, respectively. 

People are eating more red meat

An international team of researchers from the US, UK, Brazil, Mexico, and other countries said that in many parts of the world, people are consuming meat beyond the safe limit. Due to this cases of non-communicable diseases including type-2 diabetes are increasing rapidly.  

Most people who eat red meat have diabetes

For this study, the researchers included 31 groups, for which data was collected from scientific studies and online registries. Out of the 19,66,444 people who participated in the study, more than one lakh people had type-2 diabetes, which usually lasts for 10 years.
