Solar eclipse will occur on Chaitra Amavasya on 8 April 2024. This will be the first solar eclipse of the year 2024. A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun.

People will experience darkness during the day on April 8 as it will be a total solar eclipse. According to experts, the sun will not be visible for about 7 minutes. Such an incident last happened in 1970.

The first solar eclipse of 2024 will be visible in many regions including North America, Kentucky, Ohio, New York, Western Europe, North and South America, the Pacific Atlantic, the Arctic and others. However, this total solar eclipse will not be visible in India, hence no consideration will be given to its inauspicious period (Sutak).

A total solar eclipse occurs when the positions of the Sun, Moon, and Earth align in such a way that the Moon completely blocks sunlight from reaching the Earth. The entire shadow of the Moon falls on the Earth, causing darkness. This is known as a total solar eclipse.
