Somvati Amavasya falling on Monday is considered extremely auspicious. On this day, performing certain rituals can help reduce obstacles and ensure success in endeavors. Some of the practices associated with Somvati Amavasya are given below:

Abhishek with milk, curd, and honey: On the day of Somvati Amavasya, anoint Lord Shiva with a mixture of raw milk, curd, and honey. Lighting a ghee lamp later can help in removing obstacles and completing pending tasks.

Offer water to the Peepal tree in the evening on Somvati Amavasya. Sit under the tree, light an oil lamp, and recite Pitru Sukta (hymn to the ancestors). This pleases the ancestors and poverty is removed.

After sunset on Somvati Amavasya, float lamps made of wheat flour in ponds or rivers. This ritual is performed during Amavasya to bring the departed souls back to their respective worlds after coming to Earth.

On the day of Somvati Amavasya, light a lamp in front of Lord Hanuman and recite Sunderkand or Hanuman Chalisa. It is believed that this practice destroys enemies and provides relief from the effects of Saturn.

It is considered auspicious to keep a lamp in the Ishaan corner (between the north and east directions) of the house on the evening of Amavasya. This brings blessings from both the ancestors and Goddess Lakshmi and removes financial problems.
