There is a religious belief that by worshipping Mahadev, the God of Gods, with devotion, all the wishes of the devotee are fulfilled. Along with this, happiness, prosperity, fame and glory are attained. For this, the devotees worship Mahadev methodically on other days including Monday. However, very few people know the correct rules of offering water on Shivling. Let us know the rules of offering water on Shivling-

-According to Sanatan scriptures, while offering water on Shivling, the face should always be towards south. In simple words, one should stand in the south direction and offer water on Shivling. It is believed that by offering water facing this direction, Lord Shiva is pleased. He also accepts the worship of the devotee. This gives the devotee the desired result.

- According to astrologers, while offering water to Shivling facing south, one thing to keep in mind is that the water should fall from the north. It is said that this pleases the God of Gods, Mahadev.

-There is a religious belief that one should not perform parikrama after offering water to the Shivling. Doing so does not yield the fruits of worship. To perform parikrama, one has to cross the water offered to the Shivling. Doing so is prohibited in the scriptures. For this, do not perform parikrama at all after offering water.

-According to Sanatan Shastras, while offering water to Shivling, do not face north, west or east. The body parts of Lord Shiva in these directions are back and shoulder. Doing so does not yield the fruits of worship.
