Ingredients required

Semolina - 1 cup

finely chopped Onion - 3

Rice flour - 1 cup

Ginger chopped - 1/2 piece

Roasted cashew nuts - 3 tsp

Chopped green chili - 3

Cumin - 1/4 tsp

Asafoetida - 1 pinch

Black pepper - 1/2 tsp

oil as required

Salt as per taste

How to make Onion Dosa?

To make onion dosa, first, take a deep-bottomed vessel add semolina and rice flour, and mix well. Now add some water to this mixture and mix. Then add cumin, asafoetida, and salt as per taste and mix well. Now cover the prepared dough and keep it in a warm place for 3 hours. Meanwhile cut onion, ginger, green chilies, and cashews into small pieces. 

If the dough is kept in a warm place, it will rise a little. Now add all the other ingredients except finely chopped onion to the batter and mix. After this add some water as per requirement and mix. Add water until the dough becomes thin. After this, heat a nonstick pan/griddle on medium flame. When the pan is hot, add some oil to it and spread it all around. 

Take the dosa batter place it in the center of the pan and spread it in a round shape. After baking the dosa for some time, add finely chopped onion and green chilies to it. Now press the onion gently on the dosa and cook for 2 to 3 minutes. At this time apply oil on the edges of the dosa. After some time, turn the dosa and cook until it turns golden. After this, fold the dosa and take it out on a plate. Similarly, prepare onion dosa from all the batter. Serve dosa with sambar or chutney.
