Method:

Wash whole black gram and kidney beans and soak them overnight. In the morning, wash them once again, drain and put them in the pressure cooker. Add 2 cups of water, cover the lid, and cook on low flame for 6-7 whistles.

When the pressure cooker cools down and the dal is cooked, mash it lightly with the help of a masher.

In a large saucepan, melt the butter and add the cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, and mace powder. Fry until fragrant.

Add ginger-garlic paste and finely chopped onion. Fry the onion until it turns golden brown.

Add tomato puree, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and remaining spices. Cook until the oil starts separating from the mixture.

Add cooked and mashed lentils to this mixture and cook on low flame for 10 minutes. If the consistency is too thick, add some water to adjust.

Add fresh cream and a pinch of nutmeg powder. Cook on low flame for a few more minutes and serve hot.
