The Central Government has started a big scheme regarding solar panels, named PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme. Under this scheme, it has been proposed to install solar panels on one crore houses. Applications for this have started.

Actually, the government has said that these one crore families will get 300 units of free electricity every month. However, it is not clear how these 300 units of electricity will be free after the installation of solar panels.

Apart from this, nothing will be given for free under Surya Ghar Yojana. This means you have to pay for the solar panels out of your own pocket.

A survey is being conducted across the country for the installation of solar panels, after which the government will give subsidies on per per-kilowatt basis. This subsidy ranges from Rs 18,000 to Rs 78,000.
