Pista Peda is a delightful Indian sweet that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Here's a recipe to make Pishta Peda at home:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted pistachios
  • 1 cup condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup milk powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A few strands of saffron (optional)
  • Pistachio flakes or silver vark (edible silver foil) for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a blender or food processor, grind the unsalted pistachios into a fine powder. Set aside a small portion of the powdered pistachios for garnishing.

  2. In a non-stick pan, heat the condensed milk over low heat. Add the milk powder and stir continuously to avoid any lumps.

  3. Add the ground pistachio powder to the pan and mix well with the condensed milk and milk powder mixture.

  4. Cook the mixture on low heat, stirring continuously, until it thickens and starts to come together like a dough. This should take about 5-7 minutes.

  5. Add the cardamom powder and saffron strands (if using), and mix well.

  6. Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly until it's comfortable to handle.

  7. Grease your hands with a little ghee or oil, take small portions of the mixture, and shape them into round pedas.

  8. Garnish the pedas with the reserved powdered pistachios, pistachio flakes, or silver vark if desired.

  9. Allow the pedas to cool completely before serving. You can refrigerate them for a while to firm them up further.

  10. Enjoy the delicious and creamy Pishta Pedas with your family during the summer.

These homemade Pishta Pedas are a wonderful treat for special occasions or simply as a sweet indulgence. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for a few days.
