Janmashtami is an important festival of Hinduism. This festival is celebrated every year on the Ashtami Tithi of Krishna Paksha. This festival is celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. This year the festival of Janmashtami will be celebrated between 6th and 7th September. However, there is some confusion regarding the date of the festival.

Traditionally, Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of the dark fortnight of the month of Bhadrapada. According to Hindu mythology, Lord Krishna was born on this day in Rohini Nakshatra. According to Drik Panchang, this year Janmashtami will fall on two days because Rohini Nakshatra and Ashtami Tithi are falling on the day and night of Janmashtami.
