There are many temples in India, which are dedicated to different gods and goddesses. One such special temple is dedicated to Sun God in Odisha. During the welcome of delegates of the G-20 summit, a big wheel was placed in the background of the Bharat Mandapam. This wheel is a replica of the Konark Wheel of the Konark Sun Temple in Odisha. This temple, famous as Konark Sun Temple, is also known as Padma Khetra.

Konark is part of the Golden Triangle of Odisha, which also includes Bhubaneswar and Puri. It was built by King Narasimhadev in 1250 AD. The grandeur of this temple is worth seeing. This temple looks like the chariot of Sun God which has 12 pairs of wheels and seven horses pulling it.

Konark Wheel is the main attraction here. It worked like a sun dial and was believed to show the exact time. The twelve wheels represent the twelve months of the year and the eight dials within the wheel represent the eight hours of the day. Decorated with beautiful art works, this temple is a wonderful example of architecture and carving.

The courtyard of the temple is divided into dance pavilion and Jagmohan. Due to security reasons, it is prohibited to enter the main part of the temple, but apart from this you can see many other things here, which make this temple attractive. There are twelve pairs of wheels in the adjacent parts of the temple, on which different figures are made. The shape on each wheel has its own significance.

Apart from this, there is also Chandrabhag Beach and Ashtarang Beach nearby, where you can make your trip more memorable by enjoying the beautiful sun rise and sun set. Balukhand Konark Wildlife Sanctuary is also nearby.

The best time to visit here is between October to February. Due to its proximity to the sea, the weather here is quite pleasant at this time. However the visiting time is from 6 am to 10 pm.
