Janmashtami festival is being celebrated from Mathura-Vrindavan to countries where Lord Krishna is worshiped in the world. Auspicious time: 

According to astrologer, Lord Shri Krishna was born at 12 midnight in Rohini Nakshatra on the Ashtami date of Krishna Paksha of Bhadrapada month. In such a situation, you can worship Lord Shri Krishna formally at 12 o'clock in the night of 7th September. 

Worship method of Janmashtami: 

On Janmashtami, after taking bath in the morning, wear clean clothes and after the puja, take a pledge to fast. Please tell that you can keep this fast with water or fruit. At midnight, keep a metal idol of Lord Krishna in a vessel. Bathe that idol with milk, curd, honey, sugar and ghee. After this bathe Bal Gopal with water. Keep in mind that these things will be offered only after putting them in the conch. After this, offer Prasad of Pitambara, flowers and butter sugar candy, then make the Lord swing in a swing.
