Aadhaar card is issued free of cost to children below five years of age. You can visit the nearest Aadhaar center or also enroll for your child's Aadhaar online. Unlike adults, young children will not need their fingerprints or retinal scans. Instead, it is sufficient to present their birth certificate. If you do not have a birth certificate, a hospital discharge certificate or school ID card can be used. Additionally, either of the parents should have a valid ID document like an Aadhaar Card, Voter ID, Driver's License, or Passport.

It is important to note that if your child's Aadhaar card was obtained before the age of 5 years, it will be valid only till they reach this age limit. Later, an update is required, which involves the usual biometric procedures and costs a nominal fee.

Parents can link their mobile number with their child's Aadhaar and manage it easily using the mAadhaar app on their smartphone.
