In India, gas stoves are now used in almost every household to prepare food. There was a time when earthen stoves were commonly used for cooking, but that era has passed. Nowadays almost everyone uses a gas stove in their kitchen.

For this purpose, both LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and PNG (Piped Natural Gas) are used. People often wonder which gas is cheaper between LPG and PNG. let's find out.

What are the rates of LPG and PNG?

Both LPG and PNG are widely used in today's kitchens. Especially people building new houses are opting for PNG connection. However, many people find it convenient to use gas from a cylinder. If we compare the prices of both gases, PNG turns out to be cheaper than LPG.

Let's compare their consumption rates. A standard LPG cylinder holds 14.2 kg of gas. One kilogram of LPG is equal to 1.564 standard cubic meters (SCM) of PNG. Considering the per kg price, the LPG price is around Rs 57-58. Whereas the price of one SCM of PNG is around Rs 41-42.

Savings with PNG

For example, if you buy a 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi, it costs around Rs 820. In comparison, you get the equivalent amount in PNG for around Rs 586. This means that PNG is about Rs 300 cheaper than an LPG cylinder. It is noteworthy that the use of PNG gas is very safe.

Safety of PNG gas:

The pressure of the gas-filled LPG cylinder is approximately 4200 millibar. In contrast, PNG operates at a pressure of only 21 millibars. PNG gas is very light and spreads rapidly in the air in case of leakage. On the other hand, LPG is heavy and when leaked, gets deposited in the surrounding area, increasing the risk of accidents.
