This rule is to be implemented in 2025. To comply with this rule, smartphone companies have to simplify their process for switching to another operating system.

The idea is to simplify the data transfer process as well as allow companies to allow users to transfer data between different browsers. Along with this, Apple will have to make some more changes to improve the browsing experience of the users and give them more control.

Users in the EU will also have the option to change the default navigation app in iOS. That means users will be able to select the app of their choice by default on iPhone.

Not only this, Apple will also have to give its users the option to delete the default app from the iPhone by the end of 2024. That means users will be able to delete the default browsing app Safari from their iPhone. This EU rule is being brought to promote competition and user choice in the digital market.
