The Aadhar card is an important document in India, which is held by 90% of the country's population. It is required for various government and non-government transactions including admission to schools and colleges. The information given in the Aadhar card is very important. In cases where a person is transferred from one place to another, it becomes necessary to update the address on the Aadhaar card. Let us know in detail about the process and fees related to changing the address on the Aadhaar card.

The charge is Rs 50

A nominal fee of ₹50 is applicable for updating the address on the Aadhaar card. You can easily start the online process by visiting the official website of UIDAI, myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. After entering your Aadhar card number and logging in, proceed by entering the OTP sent on your registered mobile number and filling in the given captcha. Once logged in, click on the “Proceed to Aadhaar Update” option under the Aadhaar Update section.

Often people do not have any document of their new address while changing the address on their Aadhaar card, then they can choose to update the address using the Head of Household (HOF) option. Visit the official UIDAI website, log in and go to the Update Service option. Under this, select the Head of Family (HOF) based Aadhaar update option. Enter the Aadhaar card number of the head of the selected family and proceed. Make the required payment of ₹50 and submit the update request. The head of the household will receive the update request and can accept or reject it. On approval, the Aadhaar card address will be updated successfully. However, if the request is rejected, the update process will stop.
