Playing Holi with colourful colours brings joy, but many of these colours contain chemicals which can harm your skin and hair. These colours can also cause side effects like redness, rashes and irritation. Therefore, it is essential to take care of your skin and hair before indulging in Holi celebrations.

Skin care before Holi:

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with high SPF to create a protective layer on your skin before playing Holi. This helps in preventing the harmful effects of colours.

Avoid any facial treatments like facials, waxing or bleaching a few days before and after Holi to protect your skin.

Before playing Holi, massage your body with oil so that it becomes easier to wash off the colours later. You can also use moisturizer as an alternative.

How to take care of your skin during Holi?

Protect your eyes during Holi as colours can cause irritation. If the colour accidentally gets into your eyes, wash immediately with cold water and consult a doctor if irritation persists.

To protect your lips from colour, apply petroleum jelly on them. You can also use lipstick as an extra layer of protection.

Hair Protection:

Massage your hair with oil before Holi to reduce colour absorption. Alternatively, you can use a leave-in conditioner.

Tie your hair into a bun or ponytail to reduce colour exposure and make it easier to manage after Holi.

Skin Care After Holi:

Use cold water and mild soap or cleanser to wash colours. Avoid using hot water, as it may cause the colour to set.

Apply rose water on your face after Holi to soothe your skin and reduce irritation caused by colours.

After washing off colours, give your skin plenty of moisture to avoid dryness.

Wear such clothes while playing Holi

Wear long-sleeved, light-coloured cotton clothing to reduce skin exposure.

Choose clothes that you don't mind getting stains on. Avoid wearing clothes like silk and chiffon on the occasion of Holi. Avoid wearing delicate clothes like silk, as they can get damaged by colours.
