Let us tell you that there is only one Blue Zone in America, and that is Loma Linda in California. Blue Zones are those areas of the world where people live much longer than the people of the rest of the world. People living in these areas live for more than 80 years. The reason for this is their healthy diet, which mostly includes plant-based foods. Nutritionist Eliza Cheng, who lives there, has told in an article written for CNBC Make It what she eats in a day. Eliza Cheng believes that what we eat plays an important role in keeping us healthy for a long time.

Morning

After waking up at 6 am, Cheng first drinks about 240 ml of lukewarm water. Sometimes she also adds a slice of lemon to it. An hour later, at 7 am, she has breakfast. For breakfast, she eats cereal with plant-based milk instead of milk and also eats fruit.

Snack

Around 10 a.m., Cheng has a light breakfast. If she's really hungry, she eats a granola bar with fruit, nuts, and seeds. If she's not very hungry, she eats a light snack like a cheese stick and juice or yogurt.

Lunch

Cheng has lunch around noon. Her lunch includes carbohydrates, protein, fat, vegetables, and some fruit. Plant-based protein is included in her diet. She often includes chickpeas, tofu, lentils, beans, and soy meat in her lunch.

Evening snack

Around 1:30 or 2:15 pm, Cheng eats something sweet to boost her sugar level. For an evening snack, she takes small chocolate, a banana with nut butter or strawberry, and Nutella.

Dinner

AA

Cheng has dinner at 5 p.m. It consists of a bowl of white or brown rice with vegetables and protein. For vegetables, she usually prefers bok choy, which is sautéed with garlic, olive oil, and vegan oyster sauce, and topped with white sesame seeds. For her dinner protein, she usually prefers tofu, which is air-fried or pan-fried with onion garlic powder, and mushroom seasoning.

Evening Treat

Cheng ends her day with a healthy meal around 8 p.m. She eats yogurt with honey and nuts to add to it for healthy fats, fiber, and protein. She says the reason for this is that the calcium and bacteria present in yogurt are very beneficial for the stomach.
